Anna Anderson is a staff attorney at the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC), focusing on student loans, nursing home debt, and medical debt stemming from incarceration. She is the co-founder of the National Coalition of Nursing Home Debt Defense Advocates and works with lawyers nationwide to help stop illegal and abusive debt collection practices in the nursing home industry. Anna also leads a network of legal aid attorneys representing student loan borrowers across the country. 

Anna is the coauthor of the Student Loan Toolkit and a contributing author to NCLC’s Student Loan Law, and Surviving Debt. She also wrote the NCLC consumer resource, Can a Nursing Home Force a Resident’s Family and Friends to Pay the Bill?

Prior to joining NCLC, Anna worked for civil legal services organizations in Utah and New York. She was a supervising attorney at Legal Assistance of Western New York (LawNY), where she oversaw the Consumer Protection Unit, helping eliminate more than $1,000,000 in debt for low-income New Yorkers. Anna began her public interest career as an AmeriCorps volunteer and Equal Justice Works Fellow.
