E6: Using the FHA and ECOA to Combat Housing and Credit Discrimination (Video)

Issued:

Date
2021

Description

In the recent past advocates have used the FHA and/or ECOA to sue predatory companies pushing land contracts; a tenant-screening company using criminal records as a rental criteria; and a traditional lender for redlining. This nuts and bolts session will focus on bringing cases under the FHA, ECOA and other discrimination statutes. This session is practice oriented as presenters will walk through early considerations, from intake to complaint and beyond, and focus on strategies that will lead to a successful resolution of the case. This session will also use case studies, hypotheticals or other creative formats to illustrate the challenges and considerations in bringing these cases.
