C5: Intersectionality of Disability Law and Consumer Law (Video)

Issued:

Date
2021

Description

This session will focus on the nexus between disability law and consumer law. While historically disability rights litigation has centered around anti-discrimination laws like the ADA and Rehab Act, federal and state consumer protection laws are also valuable tools for clients with disabilities that are both disproportionately targeted and disproportionately harmed by abusive practices. Consumers with disabilities face challenges around issues like debt collection, student loan repayment, and more. We will describe these common problems and discuss representation strategies that attorneys can use to help protect clients with disabilities from harm.
