Timothy J. Sostrin is an attorney with the Chicago, IL law firm Keogh Law, Ltd. Since beginning his practice, Tim has zealously represented consumers in state and in federal litigation nationwide against creditors, debt collectors, retailers, and other businesses engaging in unlawful practices. He has extensive experience with consumer claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, The Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, and Illinois law. Tim is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the Illinois Bar Association.
Tim recently won class certification and summary judgment in Braver v. Northstar, LLC, 2019 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 118080 (W.D. Okla. Jul 16, 2019), which establishes for the first time that “soundboard” calls made without consent violate the TCPA. His argument before the Third Circuit Susinno v. Work Out World, Inc., 862 F.3d 346 (3rd Cir. 2017) established the standing of consumers to seek relief in federal court for even a single, unanswered telephone call made in violation of the TCPA
Tim has served as class counsel in numerous class actions, including Lee v. Global Tel*Link Corporation, 15-cv-2495 (C.D. Cal.), Willett, et al. v. Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc., et al., Case No. 13-cv-01241-JCH-RHS (D. New Mexico); Hill v. Asset Acceptance, LLC, 2014 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 91190 (S.D. Cal. 2014), and Saf-T-Gard v Transworld Systems, Inc., 10-c-7671, (N.D. Ill.)
