Patrick King

Judge King is a retired Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court. Since his retirement from the Superior Court in 2003, Judge King has worked as a mediator and arbitrator. 2003-2013 – Judge King worked at JAMS, The Resolution Experts, in Boston, Massachusetts where he mediated and arbitrated a broad range of cases from complex business disputes to medical malpractice cases. Since leaving JAMS Judge King continues to mediate and arbitrate cases. 2009- present – Judge King has been employed as Chief Settlement Counsel for the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit where he works three days per week mediating a broad range of civil case pending before the First Circuit. Prior to his 26 year judicial career, Judge King was a trial attorney with the Boston firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, PC; managing attorney for the Boston Legal Assistance Project; and a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Washington, D.C. He is a former member of the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission, past Chairman of the Massachusetts State Ballot Law Commission, past President of the Massachusetts Judges Conference and a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Fee Arbitration Panel. Judge King has had extensive training in arbitration and mediation, including the Mediation Training Program at Harvard Law School, numerous JAMS sponsored arbitration and mediation training programs and the Advanced Mediation Training Program, Center for Dispute Settlement, Washington, D.C. Judge King is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and Northeastern University. He is a member of the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and of the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
