Felisa Hagins is the Political Director of the Service Employees International Union Local 49 (SEIU 49)
SEIU is the largest union in America with over 2.1 million members and SEIU 49 represents 14,000 private sector workers in health care, property services, laundry and light manufacturing in Oregon and SW Washington.
Felisa has been working at SEIU for 14 years. As the political director she has the opportunity to work on the lobby and policy side as well as the electoral side of political work. She has worked on presidential campaigns, state legislative campaigns and local governments in Oregon, Iowa, California, Nevada and Washington. Felisa spends most of her lobbying and policy hours focused on health care reform, commercial real estate, and worker’s rights; a variety that never lets her get bored.
Felisa is currently serving on the Co-Imagine Oregon board that is focused on health care quality, and Formerly she has served on the Oregon Health Policy Board, the Eligibility and Enrollment Committee for the Oregon Health Fund Board and helped to pass HB 2009 the legislation that created the Oregon Health Policy Board She has a passion for health care reform and access to quality, affordable care for all Oregonians, and has benefited personally from Oregon’s forward thinking on health policy.
She also has a passion for civic life and is the former Secretary for the Portland City Club and currently serves on the Partnership for Safety and Justice PAC board.
Felisa has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon were she studied history, Japanese, and English. More importantly her time at the University of Oregon gave her a passion for social justice that she has carried forward in her work today.
