Andrew McGuinness

Andrew J. (“Drew”) McGuinness litigates class actions in the antitrust, consumer, products, and securities areas, including trials and appeals. He recently co-authored the chapters on “Class Certification Strategy” and “Trial Plans” in the ABA’s Class Action Strategy & Practice Guide (Dec. 2018); authored the chapter “Antitrust Class Certification Standards” and edited the chapter “Antitrust Experts” in the Antitrust Class Actions Handbook (ABA 2d Ed., 2018); and regularly writes and speaks on class action topics. He has served for over a decade on the planning committee for the ABA National Institute on Class Actions, where he teaches “Class Actions 101,” a course he designed. Drew served for eight years as lead MDL counsel for an OEM motor vehicle manufacturer in the largest auto recall by number of vehicles prior to the Takata air bag recall. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, he clerked for the Hon. Frank M. Coffin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He began his private practice at Skadden in Chicago; and later headed the class action defense practice as a partner at Dykema Gossett PLLC, before establishing his own complex litigation boutique in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
