Amy Mix is the Chief of the Elder Justice Section of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. The Section was established in 2019 to better protect the District’s elders and vulnerable adults from financial exploitation. Prior to her position with the Office of the Attorney General, Amy was the Supervising Attorney for the Consumer Fraud and Financial Abuse Unit at Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE), the primary provider of free legal services and advocacy for older residents of the District of Columbia. During her sixteen years at LCE, Amy represented homeowner victims of equity-stripping schemes and other real property fraud, as well as representing clients in foreclosure defense and exploitation cases. Amy is a regular presenter at D.C. Bar Continuing Legal Education programs, D.C. Superior Court judicial trainings, and at local and national conferences. Amy is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston Law Center and was an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the National Consumer Law Center.
