Fair Credit Reporting: 17.2.7.2 Misstatements to Consumer Reporting Agencies or Creditors
The first of the four prohibitions applying to any person prohibits any person from making any statement to a CRA or an actual or potential creditor which is untrue or misleading with respect to the consumer’s creditworthiness, credit standing, or credit capacity.219 Counseling or advising the consumer to make such a misstatement is also prohibited.
